Went to Cannon Hill park in Birmingham today and the leaves are beautiful! Took many photos of the floor.
Mushy peas and mint sauce
Today the weather was beautiful. Autumn has arrived and bought the sunshine with it. I love crunching leaves under foot. One thing that there wasn’t was that crisp air, it was very warm indeed and my wooly jumper was prematurely warn.
We had a walk around and I took a few photos. Out main interest was to get our mitts on mushy peas and mint sauce, something I only eat there.
On the way home we stopped in at Ali’s for a cuppa and that is where I saw the chair and the briefcase. They looked so good together but I can confirm they are not discarded goods but simply sunbathing.
Putting one foot in front of another
Goose fair is on in Nottingham so the traffic is a bit bonkers. I decided to walk home and didn’t think about the route but instead got lost in thought and put one foot in front of another. I walked a different way to I would normally go and spotted some great chairs!
Birmingham walks
I have had a lot to think about recently and decided to go to Birmingham to get away. I always enjoy seeing my parents and there is almost always a walk involved.
Stevie and I parked just outside of town as you get free parking and a nice stroll along the canal. We were en route to the Ikon gallery to see Donald Judd exhibition which we thoroughly enjoyed.
In the afternoon we made fruit compote from apples and pears in the garden. Ridiculously wholesome. I wasn’t the most help as was a serial yawner.
Boating Discoveries Part 2
On the second day of boating, Al and I went for an explore and found a chair graveyard. I was very over excited and started to climb to find more. It was amazing how disguised the chairs were amongst the undergrowth. I have yet to find an appropriate word for how it makes me feel when I spy new chair sights, but it is a lot like the feeling of finding something you forgot you had.

Boating Discoveries Part 1
This weekend we went on a boating adventure! It was so relaxing, I was almost mute (which for anyone who knows me is hard to imagine). Caroline and I sat at the front, with our feet up, cup of tea and comfortable jumpers. Everything feels right in the world when you’re on the water. It’s so blooming calming and for a serial neurotic like me, it’s wonderful.
We went for a 30 minute sail before we stopped for lunch (if we had walked it would have taken 10 minutes which shows how much it slows down life). We walked past some beautiful buildings.
There were some incredible reflections too.
Not for sale
I saw this pigeon sat in the window of a posh shop front in Nottingham City centre and it made me smile from ear to ear. It was so out of place next to the huge high heels. Imagine a world where pigeons walk freely among us. Not labelled street rats but equals. I wonder if many others would have the a penchant for heels such as these
Roadside
The fence round the corner from my parents house has various interesting features.
Riverside
Al and I went for a walk down the river Cole in the morning before breakfast. The light is incredible and creates great shadows. Every time I go back to Birmingham I visit ‘down by the ford’ as we call it in our household.
I like this one as it looks like a Pigeon without an audience.
Canalside
I find the ruin and decay in cities beautiful. Birmingham has some really amazing industrial looking areas. We walked from ladywood to Bindley place and the contrast from one to the other is extreme.
