Thank you all to sending these photos to me. It really makes my day when I receive them! If anyone ever sees a piece of furniture on the streets and happens to get a photo, I would love to see it!

Mapping

I decided that as I am sighting discarded furniture so regularly that I need a way to log where they were found. I have used the following clip art icons:

Arm Chair- Arm chair

Two seat sofa- two seat sofa

Three seat sofa – three seat sofa

And created a map of the location of the discarded furniture:

And then there was one

one left

I have been following the progress of this family of sofa’s and it seems this one has been abandoned by the others. Luckily for it though, a bin and a tyre have moved in to accompany it.

Changes are afoot

So what was housed is now without a home. They are now in a forced pile on.

Chair watch – two sightings

1) Housed. Not sure if you can class these pair as ‘discarded’ or ‘abandoned’ but instead they look quite at home.

2) ‘I saw this and thought of you’ Message sent to me with below photo from Ali Emm. Much appreciated lovely, especially as a studio we went and rescued it and now it’s part of our living room.

When I got there it was dark:

A present waiting for me

Sofa

When I got home from the studio, this pile of sofa was waiting for me and I felt like I’d been given a present. Made me very happy! It’s unusual to be so over the moon that your neighbour is getting rid of their sofa.

Being at the studio today was amazing and perspective changing. Feel more excited than ever by the future.

Furniture in London

Went to London this weekend which was frightening in parts but the fear was balanced out by the amount of great people and things to see.

Unidentical Twins – Saw two chairs lazing on Sunday afternoon. They are very similar but there are subtle differences.

Bystander – This sofa was sitting near Southbank watching the world go by. I get so excited when I sight new abandoned furniture.

The neighbours

As if by magic, after deciding to revisit this project, on the way to work this morning there were two sofa’s discarded and abandoned. They live opposite  each other and so I named them ‘The neighbours’. I am excited by photographing pieces of furniture again and having a collection.

Craft potential

As part of  White Rabbit Studios we are hoping to get involved with the Hockley Arts market. I have my thinking cap on about what I could bring to such an event.

I have a few ideas along the same lines as my practise but in a sellable form. I would like to use some of my photographs of abandoned furniture in some way.

Row of Chairs

I would also like to try my hand at making clocks as someone who is fascinates by them. I think I’m finding it difficult to translate my ideas but I think it’s an interesting challenge.

We went to the Hockley Arts Market this weekend to have a look round and I thought Gemma Latimer’s illustrations were fantastic. Will definitely purchase when I have moved into new house. Looking forward to having lots of framed delights on the walls.
